April Health Tips
April 03, 2012 by Bay Naturals

Spring has sprung faster than most expected, and the month of March just drifted by.  We found ourselves thinking about our health tips for April a few weeks ago and were back in the WBTW studios with Nicole Boone recording some tips we think you'll find easy to incorporate into your daily routines and diets that will really make some great impacts in your life.

Optimum health doesn't need to be burdensome, nor does it need to taste bad.  A few of our tips pack big health benefits with a great taste.  And a little goes a long way.  Watch and read more about three of our featured foods, dates, pumpkin seeds and walnuts below.  And keep reading/watching to learn more about nettle or stinging nettle and magnesium, both which have major impacts on our health and wellness.

And please keep in mind that the amount of information that we can provide in our on-air health tips is limited in content, so please feel free to reach us by email, facebook, twitter, phone or stop in at one of our two locations on the Grand Strand.  We're eager to provide more insight into any question you may have!

DATES

Small in size but giant in terms of health benefits, dates are packed with vitamins and minerals.  Cholesterol-free and low-in-calories, dates are a perfect snack to increase energy and provide a variety of health benefits.  Learn more by watching below.

PUMPKIN SEEDS

Most commonly enjoyed around Halloween or staples at the salad bar, Pumpkin Seeds pack a list of health benefits that shouldn't be overlooked.  Aside from their health benefits and ease of incorporating into one's diet, they are easy and tasty.

WALNUTS

Walnuts are an excellent source of anti-inflammatory omega-3 essential fatty acids and more, and are another easy way to incorporate and reap their benefits through everyday diet.

NETTLE or STINGING NETTLE

Nettle is often called a "wonder weed."  Nettle has a natural pain killing effect and a nice cup of nettle tea can often be used as a way to help with minor pain conditions.  The health benefits of Nettle don't stop with pain.

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is an essential mineral for staying healthy and is required for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. Multiple health benefits of magnesium include transmission of nerve impulses, body temperature regulation, detoxification, energy production, and the formation of healthy bones and teeth.

Good dietary sources of magnesium include nuts (especially almonds), whole grains, wheat germ, fish, and green leafy vegetables. As with most nutrients, daily needs for magnesium cannot be met from food alone which is why magnesium dietary supplements are recommended as well.
